PostSubject: My CRX Build   20th June 2008, 20:14

pinched a few bits from my DJCC build thread. i'll get a pic in a minute of when i bought it and what it looks like now.

I bought the CRX in september last year and seeing as it'll be an ongoing project for me i thought id start a build up.

Its a '93 crx del sol in samba green, it needs a little body work but nothing major, it'll all be sorted out in the next few months, it'll stay in the original colour and look pretty much as it does now, except i'll be changing the alloys. so far as it stands:

1993 Honda Crx Del Sol ESi
D16z6 1.6L SOHC Vtec engine

Unknown CAI w/ Heatshield on filter

NGK Power HT Leads
Bosch Super 4 Spark Plugs
Hamp Oil Filter
Blue Wire Cover Kit
Autogauge Sandwich Adaptor Plate
ARP Headstuds & Bolts
Eristic Engine Gasket Kit
Custom Sprayed Rocker Cover

the car went through a quick rebuild on april 27th - 12 hours from start to finish non stop after collecting my new alloys that morning, i got finished about 1am sunday morning, few hours sleep then up at 6 for a meet in reading

the rocker cover i sprayed up and fitted during the rebuild

nothing much happened for a while till i got the new engine and then a day or 2 later got it on a new stand on the 26th may

may 30th i fitted my 282mm brake upgrade which arrived the day before and got painted gold that evening

jun 4th my amber front corners arrived for that jdm look so those were fitted

jun 8th after 4 hours of stripping the spare project engine i was almost done

jun 16th i had spent a couple of hours cleaning and spraying the block and sarted fitting the odd bits i had

today a box of parts arrived for my project engine

and i've just placed an order for some iridium spark plugs, a new fuel filter and a new induction filter as mine is restricted by the cone heat shield around it, also my car is drinking fuel like an alcoholic at the moment, my fuel fitler is old and the plugs are no good which is why i'm replacing them.

PostSubject: Re: My CRX Build   22nd June 2008, 21:55

thanks for the comments guys Smile
i'll back all this up for when we move to .co.uk so i can repost it all.

i got a little more done this afternoon, and now its beginning to look a little more like an engine rather than just a block.
i decided to respray the oil dipstick tube blue instead of black, fitted a new water pump honed the block, fitted the acl crank bearings and thrust washers, the crankshaft, and placed the girdle on for now till i've got the pistons, rods and arp bolts, although i could fit it and work round it its easier to just place it on for now.

i sprayed some normal hammerite on the rocker cover fitted to the car this afternoon, seems to be holding out to the heat so i'll be spraying 1 of my spares up yellow next so its ready, thats probably all i can do until i get some more parts, but i want them now Sad

Looks a lot like a del sol. Seen this car on SCC, nice motor but not a fan of the colour.

its a uk model so its just called a CRX. the japanese import is a CRX Del Sol so you are right, except i'm not on SCC so my car won't be on there.
as for the color, it is abit extreme but i bought it for its rarity.
